Last July 21th was a very exciting day for Belgium. Not only did we celebrate our national holiday but we also celebrated the coronation of our new King and Queen.

The weather was splendid and the streets were packed with people chanting and waving tiny flags. After the parade, where I was happy to snap a picture of the new royal couple, we went out to dinner and waited until it was time for the fireworks to begin.

‘Vive le roi!’

If you’re lucky enough to find yourself in Brussels (Belgium), go and visit the ‘Yves Saint Laurent’ exhibition.

It shows for the first time, how Yves Saint Laurent's designs and concepts have radically changed the world of fashion, turning it into what it is today. The exhibition focuses on the visionary power of this flamboyant designer. This collection, which has never been seen before, has been put together in conjunction with the Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation.

After not being able to go to the Yves Saint Laurent exhibition when I was in Montreal in 2008, I was happy to finally see Yves’ talented work. The sixties and seventies are my favorite decades and it goes without saying that he is one of my favorite designers of that time.

And yes, the Mondrian day dress is a beauty in real life.

Love,
Sara

Note: The exhibition runs from 30 January to 5 May 2013 in the ING Cultural Centre, Place Royale 6, 1000 Brussels. Open every day, including public holidays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday evenings until 9 p.m.

For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled When I first heard the news, I could hardly believe it.
Yes, it’s true, Hard Rock Café is coming to Brussels, Belgium!

Two weeks ago, I was lucky to attend the ‘Hard Hat Tour’ organized by Hard Rock Café offering an exclusive sneak peek into what will become one of the most crowded places on the famous Grand Place.

Most of the memorabilia was still covered in bubble wrap and dust but the authentic Hard Rock Café feeling was already present.
Memorabilia will include; John Lennon’s hat and handwritten note, Paul Simonon’s (Clash) leather jacket, John Entwistle’s (The Who) bass guitar, Johnny Cash’s handwritten lyrics to “Starkville City Jail” and many more.

In August, we will finally be able to enjoy a tasty burger while listening to great rock music.

PS: the official opening date has not been announced yet but I will keep you posted.

Hermès: Festival des Métiers

Monday, May 23, 2011

On Sunday, I needed a break from studying for the finals and went to Brussels city to witness something extraordinary.

Hermès was having a ‘Festival of Crafts’ to show the world their craftsmanship in every detail.
It was really weird to touch every material (silk, leather) and to photograph every step that is needed to make a scarf, a handbag or a watch.

(this only a small selection of pictures, I’ll upload them on flickr too)

As you can see, I also bought a new lens (EF 50mm f/1.8 II) for my Canon. After seeing Kris Atomic beautiful pictures, I just needed a 50 mm lens…

I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do.

Love,
Sara

Yesterday was such a perfect day ! I met up with some of my best friends for some (window) shopping , drinks and belated birthday (and Christmas) gifts.
I had a blast!

Have a lovely Sunday,

Sara
Come a little bit closer, hear what I have to say. Just like children sleepin', we could dream this night away.
