Summer is slowly coming to an end.
It’s time to harvest the very last summer vegetables and think about the approaching winter.
In June, I got myself a little plot of land at the community garden.
I was curious. Could I really grow my own food?
Brussels sprouts, leek, rhubarb and salads were planted and I watched it all grow.
Slowly but surely.
I’m the youngest at the community garden. Luckily, the most experienced gardeners are more than happy to give me some tips and help me with my vegetables.
Tomorrow we are having a ‘Goodbye summer’ party at garden.
Vegetables will be exchanged, drinks will be served.
Until next summer.
Happy friday,
Sara

being part of a community garden sound like a good idea and having some experienced gardeners to give tips and advice is probably very welcomed. looks like you're doing quite well. enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteleyla.
Beautiful & bountiful! I especially love that last photo - it's stunning!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! I'd love to be growing my own brussel sprouts! Do blueberries and blackberries count? Because that's all we've got going so far.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a lovely way to grow your own food making those connections in the community :)
ReplyDeletehow nice sounds the idea of a community garden :)... how did you manage to find a plot in Brussels? I also live there ;) Marjorie
ReplyDeleteOh my! How beautiful! You have such a green thumb!

It looks like you have a spacious plot in your community garden! Our local community garden in Cambridge always seemed crowded and overgrown, but that is probably reflective of the gardeners' personalities. No garden space here in Sicily for us now, but I'm doing my best with pots all along our balcony!
ReplyDeleteWe are currently building a new house, and I'm very excited about the fact that there will be room for me to have a little garden...I can't wait to grow food for my family. Lovely photos, as usual!!
ReplyDeleteso cute!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the greenest of thumbs I've seen in ages!

that's really, really neat. being a part of a community garden is something we'd love to do...but something we're intimidated to try. i think because neither my husband nor i have any experience gardening. : ) i think that's awesome that you gave yourself the challenge. and, by the way, these photos are stunning! i love the compositions of the ones with the tools...so, so good.
ReplyDeleteThose tools are gorgeous! I've been on my local allotments waiting list since April, so hopefully next summer I'll be able to have my own little harvest x
ReplyDeleteI LOVE fresh veggies and fruit in the summer. SO sad that is coming to an end. I'm slowly getting on the bandwagon of getting excited for fall. I just love summer that much! Enjoy your time in Canada!
ReplyDeleteoh, how I love vegetables gardens.
ReplyDeletemmmm your lettuce looks so crunchy and delicious! I've never tried growing it like that, only as scattered seeds and small baby leaves to clip.
